Facelift and Neck Lift Case #46

This patient came to see us seeking facial rejuvenation to help with advanced signs of facial aging. She had developed extensive skin laxity in the neck, noticeable jowls, sagging cheeks and bags under the eyes. She felt she was finally ready for a long-lasting, surgical solution to correct these aging changes.

A custom-tailored surgical plan for this patient included a deep-plane facelift, platysmaplasty (or neck lift) and lower blepharoplasty. The surgical procedure was performed in our NYC office using local anesthesia with sedation. The incisions were carefully placed around the ears and behind the hairline. For the platysmaplasty, an incision was placed in the skin crease under the chin. The deep layers of facial tissue, underlying muscle (or SMAS) were lifted and tightened and excess fat was removed. Lower blepharoplasty was performed to eliminate prominent eye bags.

The deep-plane facelift with platysmaplasty achieved effective facial rejuvenation for this patient. Tightening up excessive skin of the neck and smoothing out prominent jowls helped diminish visible signs of aging. A pleasing cheek contour and eyelid shape was restored. The results looked natural, not “overly done” and made her appear revitalized.
