BOTOX® Cosmetic is one of the most popular nonsurgical treatments at our practice. These treatments are a quick, simple, and effective way to help both women and men look naturally younger and refreshed. While it is not difficult to find a BOTOX injector, your results truly depend on the skill and experience of the specialist. At Dr. Konstantin’s Manhattan, NYC, practice all the injections are performed by our highly trained nurse injector, Maria, to ensure excellence for each patient.
BOTOX Cosmetic and its more recent alternatives Dysport® and XEOMIN® are neuromodulators that help to smooth out lines and wrinkles caused by repeated contractions of facial muscles, known as “dynamic” wrinkles. BOTOX blocks the nerve signals to these muscles, which allows the skin to rest and regenerate, leaving it smooth and wrinkle-free.

BOTOX and other neuromodulators are priced starting at $400. Your cost will depend on the number of units required to achieve your ideal results. Fortunately, Dr. Konstantin’s modern techniques and conservative approach to neuromodulator injections typically mean he can create superior results using less product.
In Dr. Konstantin’s office, we combine the scientific knowledge of facial anatomy, attention to detail, and natural aesthetic sense to provide a variety of improvements by targeting the following concerns:
Dr. Konstantin often recommends BOTOX for patients who want to treat the signs of aging but aren’t ready for brow lift surgery. He uses BOTOX to subtly elevate the eyebrows as an individual treatment or in combination with dermal filler injections to restore volume in the temples. In younger patients, BOTOX treatments may be used to prevent dynamic wrinkles from forming.
In the past, it was a common practice to eliminate all facial muscle activity by injecting fairly large amounts of BOTOX. It’s important for an injector to make a conscious effort to avoid the fake and overdone look. Too much BOTOX can make you look stiff and emotionless, leading to the infamous “frozen face” effect.
More recently, with the use of modern injection techniques, we can achieve a subtler effect that still allows patients to make normal facial expressions. At Dr. Konstantin’s practice, we customize each Botox treatment to the individual patient’s facial anatomy and judiciously use small quantities of neuromodulators to target specific areas of the face, softening up the wrinkles without causing an over-injected appearance.
The injection starts with the application of a skin-numbing cream to minimize discomfort. Then a small amount of BOTOX is injected directly into the area of excessive muscle movement. Each injection lasts only a brief instant, and your entire appointment should take only about a half-hour.
BOTOX injections are considered a “lunchtime” treatment, as you can return to most routine activities immediately—there is no downtime or recovery period. You may have some redness and swelling at the injection sites, but these will likely fade within hours. You should refrain from rubbing the injection sites for at least one day.
The effect of neuromodulator injections usually becomes apparent within 3 to 7 days, and the results of a single treatment typically last about 3 to 4 months. It is highly recommended that the face is retouched about every 6 months to achieve the full effects.
