This patient presented to us concerned with early facial aging changes. She was mostly unhappy with loss of jawline definition, formation of jowls and some loose skin under the chin. Following an evaluation of her facial features and rejuvenation goals, a surgical plan was developed. Her good skin elasticity made her an excellent candidate for a mini facelift.

The surgical procedure was performed using local anesthesia with mild sedation in our NYC office. The incisions were carefully and discreetly placed curving around the ears, extending into the hairline behind the ears. Note that the length of the mini facelift incision is usually much shorter than with a more extensive facelift procedure. The underlying muscle (or SMAS) was then lifted and tightened, establishing a defined facial contour.

For this patient, the mini facelift was able to restore a youthful, refreshed appearance. Eliminating the jowls and tightening the loose skin under the chin resulted in a noticeably smoother jawline and facial profile. Subtle, yet effective facial rejuvenation was achieved while still preserving the patient’s unique facial characteristics.
