You’ve spent countless hours researching, you’ve considered your options, you’ve consulted friends and family (and even TikTok and IG) – you are finally ready to take the plunge and get the facelift of your dreams – yet a little doubtful voice still lingers. Will I be happy with my results? How can I know if I’m making the right decision? Who can quell our fears and point us in the right direction – none other than one of New York City’s Top Facial Plastic Surgeon’s – Dr. Konstantin Vasyukevich. In this informative YouTube video, the facelift maestro, who has performed over 3,000 cosmetic facial procedures in 15 years in practice, shares with us the top three common mistakes that can lead to an unsatisfactory result – and a bonus tip on how to choose wisely.

Mistake#1 – Choosing the Wrong Doctor

While there are thousands of qualified doctors to pick from when searching for a surgeon to perform your facelift, it is important to choose one who specializes in this procedure. A plastic surgeon may deliver an amazing breast augmentation or a tummy tuck for a patient after doing thousands of such procedures, might on the other hand perform a less than satisfactory facelift, having had only minimal experience in doing them. Practice makes perfect and choosing a doctor who specializes in facial plastic surgery and does surgery only on the face will more likely yield a beautiful facelift result. As Dr. Konstantin says, “if the doctor specializes in one procedure and he or she is very good at that procedure, doesn’t mean they are good at all the cosmetic procedures. So you need to select someone who is very good specifically at facelifts, if you are getting a facelift, of course.”

Mistake#2 – Choosing the Wrong Place

A destination wedding might sound exciting, but what about a destination facelift? Traveling abroad for facial plastic surgery may be enticing at first because it is popular or the procedure is offered at a lower price, but can ultimately result in more expenses and worry in the long-term. Dr. Konstantin says, “if you are not happy with your results and things don’t look right, what will you do if your surgery was done in another country? Just going back there will not necessarily help the problem, not necessarily the doctors there will be interested in fixing it for you.” False advertising, fake before-and-after pictures and inadequate medical standards are some of the red flags to be aware of when traveling to other countries for cosmetic procedures.

Mistake#3 – Choosing the Wrong Procedure

No two faces are the same and this is why it is important to understand that a custom tailored approach is best when choosing the right facial procedure for the most gorgeous, yet natural results. Nowadays it is easy to get caught up in the latest beauty trends and one-fits-all procedures promising to make us look “ageless’ like celebrities do, but this can lead to disappointment. To avoid any unhappy results, Dr. Konstantin recommends letting your surgeon know your exact concerns, what you are hoping to achieve with plastic surgery and then trusting the expert to recommend the best procedure for you.

Bonus Tip:
